FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE 3: Perfect Love
FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 CORINTHIANS 13:13 (NKJV)
FOUR TYPES OF LOVE Philia (Brotherly Love): A powerful bond among friends, most common love. Eros (Sensual/Romantic Love): Love between a husband and a wife. Storge (Familial Love): Love for family members, like parent to child, or between siblings. Agape (Perfect/Unconditional Love): The highest form of love.
GOD IS LOVE, SO WE CAN LOVE 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 JOHN 4:7-8 (NKJV)
AGAPE LOVE IS MANIFESTED 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 JOHN 4:9-10 (NKJV)
AGAPE LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US: Through our relationships 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 1 JOHN 4:11-12 (NKJV)
AGAPE LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US: Through our obedience 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 JOHN 2:5 (NKJV)
AGAPE LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US: Through our obedience 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments are not burdensome. commandments. And His 1 JOHN 5:2-3 (NKJV)
AGAPE LOVE IS PERFECTED IN US: Through our position in Him 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love. 19 We love each other because He loved us first. 1 JOHN 4:17-19 (NLT)
PERFECT LOVE MOVES US To love God with everything. To love ourselves. To love our family. To love those different from us. To love those who are difficult to love. To love our enemies.
