World Ranking Objective Provide a means of determining the relative strength of each side (athlete, pair or team) in each classification event It can also be used for: Accurately determine which sides should qualify for an event. Enable BISFed to further develop an effective competition system. Engage with a range of stakeholders, including media, spectators and commercial partners to communicate and promote the sport. 1

Development of New World Ranking Who was involved: BISFed Competition Committee Knowledge of the sport Understanding of the competition structure UK Sport s Sport Intelligence Team Mathematical modelling Statistical analysis A total of 4099 matches over the past five years was used to test and simulate up to 10 different solutions 2

World Ranking Point Allocation World ranking points will be awarded for the outcome of each match played in a BISFed sanctioned competition Round/Stage FINAL BRONZE S-FINAL Q-FINAL R-16 QUALIFY FROM POOL POOL MATCH ENTRY* Points Awarded 3 2 4 4 2 1 1 1 * Entry points are not to be multiplied by event coefficient values 3

World Ranking Tier Coefficients Any points earned at a competition, except points awarded for entry, will be multiplied by the coefficient to calculate the total number of points awarded for an event. Event+ Coefficient* World Championships/ Paralympic Games Regional Championships World Opens Regional Opens 4 3 2 1 * Each coefficient will decay by 0.5 after 365 days. + Events will be eligible until 31st December of the 2nd calendar year after completion, unless an equivalent type of event is held earlier in the 2nd calendar year at which point the events will be exchanged and the earlier event removed. 4

World Ranking Point Total Calculation The competition system will operate on a two-year rolling basis in order to qualify for the relevant World or Regional Championships or Paralympic Games Ranking Period: 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2016 = Qualification to 2017 Regional Championships 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2017 = Qualification to 2018 World Championships 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2018 = Qualification to 2019 Regional Championships 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2019 = Qualification to 2020 Paralympics 5

World Ranking Point Total Calculation The competition system will operate a ranking system which uses a side s four best event results (ranking point totals) over a two-year qualification period Event Eligibility: A side s ranking points total must include the higher ranking points total from the most recent year s major event i.e. latest World Championship if attended, OR; latest Regional Championship, if attended A side s ranking points total must not exceed a maximum of 3 results from; latest World Open(s), up to a maximum of 2 results latest Regional Open(s), up to a max. of 2 results if a side has attended a World Open, or; latest Regional Open(s), up to a max. of 3 results if a side has not attended a World Open 6
