  2. What triggers our causes of cert ain behaviour Sport is one of the best ways to contribute to nation building. When you support a sportsperson or natio nal team competing for South Africa, you f eel proud of your country. We know we are one nation no matter how diverse we are. Our one goal as we stand together is to do our best as a sporting nation.

  3. Participant and spectator behavi our in sport When participants behave badly they set bad ex amples as role models. They frustrate spectators and this could lead to v iolence. When spectators behave badly they could harm the sporting event. There is great responsibility on both participants and spectators to make sure we build our nation through good behaviour at sporting events.

  4. Exposure to positive behaviour p rogrammes A sports code of conduct A code for players and spectators aim to: Get rid of violent and harmful actions at recreatio nal and sport facilities. Ensure a positive, safe and uplifting environment for spectators and participants. Develop a culture of safe, fair play and positive s porting for all. Ban racism from sport.

  6. The impact of behaviour on participa nts, spectators, teams opposition, co mmunity, society and nation It can be good and bad. Sporting behaviour leads to good effects. Unsporting behaviour has harmful effects . How you behave has a positive or negati ve effect on everybody else.

  7. How sport can support nation building It can build tolerance, understanding and respec t. It has the power to oppose racism, discriminatio n and human rights abuses. It helps us to make friends with strangers and bu ild relationships. Build relationships across cultures, languages, r eligions, ages, and incomes. When we host an international sporting event we are one nation, supporting one team.

  8. Our diverse cultures come together for th e love of the sport, the game and our cou ntry. E.g 2010 World Cup soccer. People say it was the best World Cup ever!

  9. When sport detracts from nati on building This happens when spectators, players, m atch officials and administrators do not be have in a sporting way. Therefore, it is important that we all do our best to promote sporting behaviour.
