Unseen passage-8 Read the following text carefully and answer the Q. No- 4 & 5. In ancient period, we had a number of famous kings and their kingdoms in Bengal region. Shashanka was the first powerful king of Bengal in the seventh century. He tried to expand his kingdom beyond Bengal to North India. He was successful to keep the sovereignty of Bengal.
In the eighth century king Gopal came to rule Bengal as the founder of Paul Dynasty. Gopal is the king who put an end to the disorder at that time and united Bengal again. Shamsuddin Ilias Shah was the first Muslim ruler who brought the entire Bengal under his rule in the thirteen century.
He was the founder of Ilias Shahi Dynasty. He maintained the sovereignty of Bengal from the Sultan of Delhi. The term Bangalah was first introduced during his time.
