Learning Outcomes At the end of the lesson students will be able to - Listening: 3.4.1 Understand statements made by the teacher and students Speaking: 1.1.1 Say words, phrases and sentences with proper sound and stress. Reading: 1.5.1 Read words, phrases and sentences in the text with proper pronunciation, stress and intonation.

  5. Warm up Activity Let s sing a song Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you, dear Sara Happy birthday to you.

  6. Lets see a picture

  7. What can you see in the picture? What is happening in the picture? What do these packets look like? How many candles can you see on the cakes?

  8. Lesson declaration Happy Birthday

  9. Lets see some new words Special Better, greater, or otherwise different from what is usual. Born To come out of a mother s body, and start to exist. Celebrate To show that a day or an event is important by doing something special on it Candle A stick of wax with a string through the middle that can be burned . To move along or be carried by the wind. Blow up Gift A thing given willingly to someone without payment. Wrap Cover or enclose in paper or soft material. Spend To pay for goods, services, or so as to benefit someone or something.

  12. A persons birthday is a special day. This is the date when the person was born. People around the world celebrate birthdays in different ways. People sing a song for the person.

  13. In many countries, people celebrate with a cake. There are candles on the cake. There are one candle for each year of the person s life.

  14. At the end of song, the person blows out the candles.

  15. In some countries, there is often a party for a child s birthday. The child s friends come to the home.

  16. There is special food, like sweets. The children play games and sing.

  17. The friends often bring a birthday gift for the child. The gift was wrapped in colourful paper. The gift may be a toy, a book, or some clothes. In some countries, the friends don t bring gifts.

  18. The most important thing is to enjoy the day and spend time with friends and family.

  19. Group Work Write down the meaning of following words: Special, Birthday, Blow out, Born, Celebrate, Cake, Candle, Gift, Wrap, Enjoy, Spend Group: A 1.Do people around the world celebrate birthday in the same way? 2.How do people celebrate birthday in most of the country? 3.
