  2. Introduction- Why Should You Pay Attention?! Helps us find ourperfect diet Earthworms are useful, we should find a way to make them stronger: Great for compost - used to recycle trash Used for bait Beneficial to soil Earthworm castings (manure) are known to act as great fertilizers

  3. Question Hypothesis Does a different diet affect earthworm growth? If so, then how? If I give earthworms a mixture of all diets, then it shall grow the fastest.

Background on Earthworm Anatomy Rings on earthworm are called annuli Bump on halfway point is called clitellum, which is used for mating Hermaphroditic- Earthworms are both sexes No eyes, ears, or noses See world through touch, taste, vibrations, and light Don t have lungs, and breathe through skin They have five hearts Can regenerate up to half of their bodies Last, they have no teeth, but very powerful mouth muscles

  7. Procedure Label eight equal containers a) Two Protein , two vegan , two multivitamin , and two control 2. Mix manure, peat moss, and topsoil together 3. Place 4 liters of mixture into all containers 4. Measure five earthworms for each container; each one should be equal in size to others in same bin 5. Place five earthworms, all equal in size, into each container 6. Every three days, use measure to give worm groups equal food (give multivitamin group half of a vitamin) 7. Add water so soil stays moist, amount can vary 8. During same day, measure two worms in every group for increase in length 9. Look for patterns, and graph all results 1.

  9. Conclusion I was right, a mixed diet had worked the best! All in all, food type does affect the growth rate of earthworms, and it most effective when there is a mixed diet.
