  2. E-Extension E-Extension is also known as cyber extension It is defined as the extension over cyber space . But, in applied context of agriculture, cyber extension means, "using the power of online networks, computer communications & digital interactive multi-media to facilitate dissemination of Agrl. Technology . It includes effective use of ICT, national & international information networks, internet, expert systems, multi- media learning systems & computer based training systems to improve information access to the farmers, extension workers, research scientists & extension managers.   4. Global e-extension Initiatives 1.e-Agriculture: e-Agriculture is a global community of practice that promotes the use of ICTs for sustainable agriculture and rural development. It serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration among stakeholders working on e-extension. 2.Grameenphone Agricultural Information Service (AIS): The AIS in Bangladesh is a pioneering e- extension initiative that delivers agricultural information and advice to farmers via mobile phones. It provides voice messages on various agricultural topics, including crop cultivation, pest management, and market prices. 3.Digital Green: Digital Green is a global initiative that uses videos and community-based approaches to disseminate agricultural knowledge and best practices. It trains local farmers as video producers and facilitates the production of instructional videos showcasing successful farming techniques. 4.Farmers' Information and Advisory Centers (FIAC): The FIAC initiative, led by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), aims to strengthen extension services in Africa through ICTs.   5. 4. M-Kilimo: M-Kilimo is a mobile-based e-extension initiative in Kenya that delivers personalized agricultural advice to farmers. It uses mobile phones to collect data on farmers' crops and provides them with customized information on crop management, weather updates, and market prices. 5. Plantwise: Plantwise is a global program led by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that provides plant health advice and diagnostic services to farmers. It utilizes ICTs to deliver information on pest and disease management through online and offline channels.
