  14. Prohibitive commands The imperative is never negated in Hebrew. Instead RULE: The do-not s of Hebrew are given with the yiqtol form preceded by the word or . This construction is a high-ranking off-the-line verb form in Hortatory Discourse. Translate as a prohibition with not, do not, or shall not.
