The generational impact of systematic oppression on people of color is evident worldwide, particularly in the United States. This oppression has led to various forms of resistance, including music, fashion, and activism. Music has served as a powerful outlet and tool for defiance, with genres like Rap and RnB reflecting the experiences of black individuals. Fashion has also played a significant role in empowerment, from conforming to European beauty standards to the recent natural hair movement. These cultural expressions serve as ways to combat systemic oppression and promote unity within the black community.

  2. Description The prevalence of the generational effect of systematic oppression in regards to people of color is starting to show on a larger scale across the world. One of the most prevalent scenes that systematic oppression has taken place on a generational scale is the United States of America. Throughout the United States history there has been many examples of systematic oppression being placed upon blacks. Consequently there are examples of blacks trying to defy the oppression that has been placed upon them. Overtime methods such as music, fashion, athletics, education, and public acts of protesting became ubiquitous in modern day society to combat systematic oppression. Examples of these methods would be the fad started by Colin Kapernick to take a knee during the American national anthem, as well as the natural hair movement within the Black/ African American community

  3. Music Music was used not only as a outlet for blacks, but also doubled as a method to help defy oppression that blacks had been placed under. Different genres of music such as Gospel , Rap , funk , jazz, reggae ,and the blues reflected in a rhythmic manner of daily life for blacks. Present day music genres such as Rap and RnB still reflect heavily on the lives of blacks the reside in America.

  6. Fashion Fashion was an essential method in the the empowerment of oppressed blacks in America. The European standard of beauty was forced upon black men and women. Black women to this day use perms, flatirons, and relaxers to straighten their hair. Black men and women would avoid staying in the sun for prolonged periods of time for fear of becoming a darker complexion. Some methods went as far as using bleach, bleach in bathing water, and bleach in hand soaps to lighten skin. Recently a movement know as the natural hair movement has taken the black community by storm. Black men and women are embracing their natural hair textures by growing their hair out, embracing protective hairstyles such as braids, and using social media such as youtube, intagram, facebook , and snap chat to show and inspire others in the black community to embrace the Fashion was an essential method in the the empowerment of oppressed blacks in America. Athletics Athletics within the Black community was used to not only to provide children and families with recreational activity that brought communities together, but also to give blacks something that they could use to better themselves in life. Overtime in America Athletics have represented unity, and equality.

Zora Neale Hurston Forty Yards, 1930 Zora Neale Hurston depicts every instance of the football game as a dance; Whenever a player is tackled there is a duet of dancing. This was symbolic of the cooperation between leaders and groups with differing methodologies for achieving a common goal. Symbolically this shows teamwork between leaders and units with different tactics, and methods for accomplishing shared purpose.

  11. Education Education is fundamentally key for the advancement of any person or group. The opportunities that a black person could gain with an education seemed miniscule, however overtime have proved very useful for blacks. With educations Blacks could help educate other blacks within the black community. These sources of knowledge within the community will set the venue for activist across the 20thand 21stcentury.

This article focuses on the educational experience of blacks males at different schools in Oakland California. Some of the schools have all male black instructors. Along with gaining a regular education, these young men are additionally influenced by black male instructors. this article also discusses studies on the affect of education depending on where some of these children live. Compared to a White child born in the Oakland Hills, a Black child born in East Oakland is 21 times more likely to be poor and third as likely to be reading at a grade level in the fourth grade, according the Alameda County Health Department.

Public acts of Protesting There is a firm stench of injustice, discrimination, police brutality, prejudice, sexism, and corruption within the confine of the United States of America mainly concerning the community of people of color. Overtime these wretched issues have caused movements in different time periods such as the Marcus Garvey Movement, The Civil Rights movement, the Black power movement, and the present day Black Lives matter movement. These movements show a generational effect on people of color during time where standing up for your rights was extremely necessary.
