AVID is a schoolwide college readiness system that provides structured support for first-generation college students, professional learning for educators, and focuses on developing students' academic potential and skills. It offers a strategic approach to rigorous curriculum, teaching specific strategies for reading, writing, thinking, and speaking, and aims to accelerate underachieving students' potential by providing intensive support and fostering a positive peer group environment. The AVID Elective Student Profile targets students with academic potential, desire, and determination, especially those who are historically underserved or facing special circumstances.
