  1. Asking questions Interrogatives You use interrogatives words to ask questions such as: who, what, where, why, how, etc. what? qu ? how? c mo? who? qui n? where? d nde? from where? de d nde? to where? ad nde?

  2. how much? how many? which? why? when? cu nto(a) cu ntos(as) cu l? por qu ? cu ndo? **** Notice that all the interrogative words have an accent!

  3. In Spanish, when you ask a question with an interrogative word you place the verb before the verb and subject: Qu come Elena en el restautante? Ad nde van Uds? Por qu va Ignacio a la playa cada d a?

  4. When you are asking for confirmation or denial, you make the statement first, then the question: Luisa es muy inteligente, verdad?

  5. When asking how much , the interrogative is placed before the verb, and the noun follows the verb: How much does the car cost? Cu nto cuesta el carro?

  6. When asking how many the interrogative goes before the noun and the verb follows the noun, with the subject following the verb: How many books do you read each year? Cu ntos libros lees t cada a o?
