Dr. David Draper serves as the Deputy Chief Scientist. The OCS leads initiatives related to scientific integrity, research security, citizen science, and more. They also engage in interagency collaborations and outreach activities with a focus on scientific engagement and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Dr. Draper and his team work closely with other key figures within NASA to promote scientific progress and collaboration on a national level.

OCS is Agency lead for: Scientific Integrity Research Security Citizen Science NASA Science Council Presidential Early Career Awards in Science and Engineering Demographic assessments of research & analysis programs Internal support for working groups on bid & proposal process, scientific workforce, Future Of Work 5
OCS Interagency support for: WH Office of Science & Technology Policy (OSTP) Government Accountability Office (GAO) audits Interagency working groups (e.g. research security, scientific integrity, open access/open science, Council on Environmental Quality) 6
Outreach and external engagement: National Academies of Science, Engineering, Medicine Gov t-Univ-Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR) Analysis of Decadal Survey inputs Special sessions & townhalls at major science conferences Schools, Universities, Community groups, etc. etc. etc. 7
