  1. ART CLINIC REPORT SDA HOSPITAL, ASAMANG TO BE PRESENTED AT THE HIV/AIDS CONFERENCE, NAIROBI- KENYA

  2. INTRODUCTION The HIV/AIDS Clinic was set up in 2016 as an intervention to provide care and treatment to HIV/AIDS patients. Our task is embedded in the mission of the Seventh Day- Adventist church which endorses Christ like response to those who suffer. All the activities of the hospital are personal, compassionate and redemptive- a demonstration of our mission to serve and save. These are the foundational blocks of the ART Clinic.

  3. WHAT DO WE DO!! To conduct HIV testing for clients To conduct counselling for clients with HIV/AIDS To provide psychological support for people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS To provide ART drugs for people living with HIV/AIDS

  4. OUR VISION 90-90-90 Our vision as a clinic is in tandem with WHO s target of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. The 90-90-90 is a Global consensus which calls for .

  5. 90 % of people living with HIV to know their HIV status. 90% of people who know their HIV status are accessing treatment 90% of people who achieving viral suppression within 12 months receive treatment

  6. KEY ACTIVITIES Launching and implementation of the Know your status campaign. This will see us achieve the UNAIDS target(90- 90-90) for our catchment population by 2030. We have assigned individuals( Psyco- support) for every clients on the ART treatment. With this, personalized services are given to each clients according to their needs. Establishment of HIV toll free lines. Clients are able to receive counselling even in the comfort of their homes. Its part of the hospital s doorstep healthcare approach.

  13. THE FACILITY HAS SEEN SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN NUMBER OF TESTS DONE. THERE WAS A 20% INCREMENT OF TOTAL TEST DONE FROM 2017 TO 2018(MAY). THIS INDICATES THAT CLIENTS ARE BECOMING AWARE OF OUR SERVICES AND THE MENACE OF HIV/AIDS ARE BECOMING POPULAR AMONG THE CATHCMENT. THE NUMBER OF CLIENTS TESTED POSITIVE ARE ALSO INCREASING THUS THE NEED FOR MORE SENSITISATION ON HIV/AIDS. THIS IS AN EFFORT WE ARE STRIVING HARD TO ACHIEVE.

  14. BEST PRACTICES TO CURTAIL STIGMITISATION There is an unlabeled area dedicated for the ART Clinic. Clients folders and information are kept in a special office Clients take their drugs at the Counselling centre not at the main pharmacy. This is to prevent easy identification and eventual stigma.

  15. BEST PRACTICES Clients are allowed to bring their treatment supporters of their choice. There is non- voluntary test conducted for each client who visits the hospital.

  18. KEY CHALLENGES Clients resistance in voluntary counselling and testing The negative perception about HIV/AIDS which prevents people from taking the test Inadequate staffing to support operations at the ART Clinic
