  2. Park and National Palace of Pena Sintra It represents one of the best expressions in the world of 19th-century architectural Romanticism. It was the first Romantic palace in Europe, having been built about 30 years before the charismatic Schloss Neuschwanstein, in Bavaria.

  3. Porto (Oporto) Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centres, and its core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.

  4. Jernimos Monastery-Lisbon The monastery is one of the most prominent examples of the Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. It was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby Tower of Bel m, in 1983.

  5. Yellow-tram-Lisbon Lisbon s trams are na integral part of the public transport, and pass through much of the historic centre, and are often a highlight of the city. They cover many of the reas where there is no access to the underground (metro).

  6. Guimares-Castle The Castle of Guimar es, is the principal medieval castle in the northern region of Portugal. It was built in the 10th century.

  8. Rocha-beach-Alrgarve The Algarve, Portugal s southernmost region, is known for its Atlantic beaches and golf resorts.

  10. Coimbra University Coimbra The first university in Portugal and one of the first and most characteristic in Europe was established in 1290 by King D. Dinis after Nicholas IV s Papal bull.

  11. Roman Temple vora vora Roman Temple (also called Diana Temple) is one of the greatest and best preserved roman temples in the Iberian Peninsula.
