Contacting various neighborhood schools in the East Valley to inquire about orchestra programs before, after, or during school hours. American Leadership Academy and Gilbert Christian are among the schools offering orchestra programs. The Higley Unified School District (HUSD) currently provides an elementary before-school orchestra program at San Tan Elementary, with specific schedules for different student groups across the district. The exploration for 2018-19 includes options for before/afterschool clubs, AM programs, and potential Suzuki instruction transitions to a Fine Arts Academy.

  2. We contacted several neighborhood schools in the East Valley to inquire if they offered orchestra during, before or after school.

  4. HUSD currently offers an elementary before school orchestra program at San Tan Elementary. This class starts at 6:45 am. Parents take their children to San Tan Elementary and the school district provides busing to their assigned campus. Mr. David Jacques is the instructor of the program.

  5. The current schedule is below: Mondays Beginning Violin for Bridges & San Tan students (21 students) Tuesdays & Thursdays Advanced Strings for students from across the district (41 students) Wednesdays Beginning Viola/Cello for students from across the district (18 students) Fridays Beginning Violin for Centennial, Coronado, Cortina, HTA & Power Ranch students (26 students)

  6. We are exploring all of the following options for 2018-19: Before/Afterschool Clubs Two AM Programs 29 STUDENTS CHP/COR/GWP/HTA CMS WFHS 76 STUDENTS BRG/CEN/CTA/PWR/SAN SMS HHS One teacher for three schools in the district (i.e. it becomes an elective) Three teachers for nine elementary schools (i.e. it becomes an elective) Pull out programs Begin Suzuki instruction in Pre-K and have these students transition to a Fine Arts Academy that could be developed and opened by 2019-2020.
