Overview Driving is important for mobility, quality of life, and independence Many neurolological conditions impact on the ability to drive and require driving assessment Return to driving/or start driving is an important rehabilitation goal The Driving SIG welcomes collaboration with other SIGs
Future Goals Continue to develop the SIG and increase membership (approx. 50, participation/presence at World Congress = a facilitator) Continued participation in Teaching Course Clinical Pathways and Stroke Rehabilitation: Comprehensive, Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines. Driving after Stroke Review clinical practice guidelines for returning to drive after neurological conditions Participation in forthcoming WFNR Congress in Vancouver in 2024 Links with other SIGS. Potential for joint workshops or symposia?
Driving SIG suggested content for WFNR 2024 1. Symposium or Workshop 2. Professor Michel B dard, Director of the Centre for Research on Safe Driving, Lakehead University, Canada. Lecture 3. Business meeting, Interactive discussion of driving with various neurological conditions across different countries. SIG meeting 4. Invite a Canadian driving simulator company to exhibit at the World Congress with a view to highlighting the importance and utility of driving simulators in the assessment of driving performance and driving rehabilitation for patients with a range of neurological conditions.
