  1. Hell, Abode of the Hell, Abode of the Rev. 21:8 Wicked Wicked

  2. Hades Hades Refers to the place of the unseen dead. The waiting place that the soul goes to when a person dies. Consists of two areas that are divided by impassible gulf (Lk. 16:19-31). One area is described as Abraham s Bosom, or Paradise; where the righteous will wait for the final judgment. The other is described as torments, where the wicked waits for their final judgment.

  3. Hades Hades Two places in Hades: Paradise (Lk. 23:43; Acts 2:27, 31) Torments (Lk. 16; 2 Pet. 2:4) The abode for disembodied souls to await the Day of Judgment. Rev. 20:12-15; 1 Cor. 15:20-26 Jn. 5:28-29; 1 Cor. 15:35-58; Matt. 25:31-46

  4. Hell, the Abode of the Wicked Hell, the Abode of the Wicked The Greek Word used to describe this place is Gehenna. Jesus spoke of hell more frequently than he did of heaven. The word Gehenna comes from the OT expression, the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; a place where worship was offered to Molech, a Canaanite god associated with child sacrifice (2 Chron. 28:3; 33:6; Cf. 2 Ki. 23:10-14). Jesus teaching on Gehenna describes where the sinner would end up, and how horrible it would be.

  5. Hell, the Abode of the Wicked Hell, the Abode of the Wicked Matt. 5:29-30, get sin out of your life! Matt. 13:41-42, wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 9:43-48, where worm does not die, fire not quenched. Matt. 25:30, place of outer darkness. Matt. 25:46, everlasting punishment. Rev. 21:8, lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

  6. Hell, the Abode of the Wicked Hell, the Abode of the Wicked Matt. 25:41, prepared for devil and his angels. 2 Thess. 1:7-9, those who do not obey God s word will share devil s fate. Gal. 5:19-21, general list of those who will be in hell. Matt. 7:21-23, many who claim to be religious will be there. Rev. 3:15, those who were once Christians, but do not live faithful lives will be there (Cf. Rev. 2:10; Phil. 2:12; 1 Cor. 9:27). Knowing about the reality of hell should motivate us to teach the lost (2 Cor. 5:9-11).
