  2. Lesson Objective (Aim): Understanding what is needed for a balanced diet Learning Outcomes (Targets): 1. All: Recall and list the 7 nutrients in a balanced diet. 2. Most: Explain the effects of a poor diet on the body. 3. Some: Analyse nutritional information and make judgements on the nutritional values of foods.

  3. Piderman? Spidey s Breakfast: fried egg, fried bacon and grilled sausages. Spidey s Lunch: Ham sandwich (white bread), can of cola and chocolate bar. An important part of being an active hero is a healthy and balanced diet. But is Spiderman s daily food intake really that good for him? 1. Does Spiderman have a balanced diet? Why? Spidey s Dinner: Roast chicken, peas and chips. Chocolate biscuits for pudding. 2. How could Spiderman improve his diet?

  4. Can You Help Spidey? Spiderman is worried that if he continues the way he is going he will end up out of shape Can you use google to list the different nutrients required for a balanced diet? Can you design a breakfast, lunch and dinner for Spiderman?

  5. Can You Help Spidey? Your menu! 1. If Spiderman follows this diet will he still receive a balanced diet i.e. all the nutrients in the correct amounts? 2. Would he be getting enough calories? (Remember Spidey has a very active lifestyle) 3. Would it cost a lot of money to be on this diet? (Being a Superhero doesn t pay too well...)

  6. The PB&C milkshake contains peanut butter, chocolate and ice-cream. It has been labelled America s worst drink and Spiderman s favourite! Yum!
