Les Sports Remember previously we have worked on the topic of sports? Please work your way through this presentation to revise how to say sports in French and whether you like them or not. On the next slide you will see 9 different sports. Click on the symbol to hear the correct pronunciation and try saying the phrases yourself a few times. Then test yourself! Can you say the French without reading it? Can you write the French out without looking?

Jaime ... Je n aime pas ... To say you like a sport use j aime ; to say you don t like a sport use je n aimepas .
Practise making sentences... J aime Je n aime pas le football le rugby la gymnastique la natation l quitation le badminton le basket le cyclisme le tennis
Making even more interesting sentences... I like football. I don t like rugby. If we used a conjunction these sentences could be more interesting eg I like football but I don t like rugby. Use some of the following conjunctions to make more interesting sentences! et mais pourtant = and = but = however Here s an example. J aime le foot et le rugby mais je n aime pas le tennis. I like football and rugby butI don t like tennis.

We can talk about more people than just ourselves all the time, using all the parts of the verb aimer AIMER TO LIKE j aime tu aimes il aime elle aime nous aimons vous aimez ils aiment elles aiment I like you like he likes she likes we like you like (more than one person) they like (at least one male) they like (all female) Instead of il or elleyou could use someone s name eg John aime le foot Sophie aime le basket John et Sophie aiment la boxe Sophie et Louise aiment le rugby = Sophie and Louise like rugby. = John likes football = Sophie likes basketball = John and Sophie like boxing
