Major Achievement against Road map and Resilience House Regional Community Safety and Resilience Forum Please highlight key achievement since Yangon meeting, 2013 to Sept, 2014 against the integrated regional road map and resilience house DP, Response and Recovery : Training of Training on District Disaster Manager Committee (DDMC) in 10 disritics in 4 provinces (Vientiane, Bolikhanxay, Khammoun, Champasack) Distibuted DP kids (early warning system, shearch rescue equiments) Distibuted rice and Hygiene kids for 4 districts in two provinces (Salavanh, Champasck) 1. 2. 3. CCA and EWEA: prepared staff for CCA DMIS/ Knowledge Sharing: Requrlary collletion data and sharing RFL and Migration: ?????? Health and DM achievement should be highlighted. Health and DM had integrated pilots project in two villages included Vangsong and Khanmak village, in Vangviang, Vientiane Province. What project name? what activities? Lao Red Cross had conducted integrate meeting among three departments included Disaster and Relief Department, Health Department and Information and Fund Raising Department in Vangviang, Vientiane Province. Regional New Initiative and new partners- If any Community Safety and Resilience Forum New initiative or approach adapted by NSs to implement the programme with consideration of cross cutting components like climate change, gender, disability, migration, youth and PSS, NCD Lao Red Cross adapted climate change, gender, disability, migration, youth, PSS, NCD ???? in project implementing. Eg: DM project, integrated gender in HIV/AIDS and WASAN project, integrated PSS in Health and DM program. Use of technology and social media in the program Lao Red Cross using media included LRC Newsletter, Radio program, Web site and Face book to promote program. The project use IEC material to communicate with target people in the community. New partnership formed with the country corporate sector, academia, CSO, UN, etc. (MoUs, partnership agreement, etc) LRC cooperated with Ministry of Education and National Disaster Management Office to develop curriculum on disaster for teach in college. www.ifrc.org www.ifrc.org Saving lives, changing minds. Challenges to operationalize Resilience approach/implementing road map Regional Community Safety and Resilience Forum Key challenges in implementing integrated programme in line with regional road map and component of resilience house. Opportunities to operationalize Resilience approach/ implementing road map Regional Community Safety and Resilience Forum New opportunities in terms of maximizing existing resources (human, IEC, etc.) Lao Red Cross leadership understand and support more staff to implementing program Generating new financial resources under the umbrella of Resilience approach LRC Improve finance system in each department belong to LRC Finance and Administration www.ifrc.org www.ifrc.org Saving lives, changing minds. NS engagement to strengthen the coordination and cooperation at National level Regional Community Safety and Resilience Forum Internal External With other stakeholders like Govt., UN agencies, ASEAN, CSO,etc Current FRC implementing Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) project in two districts in Khammoun province. Lao Red Cross is partner with ADPC conducted workshop on rescuer by land in CADRE project. Lao Red Cross is partner with ICRC implementing project survive from UXO in two provinces included Sekong and Attapea Within NSs Interdepartmental President of Lao Red Cross is member of National Disaster Management committee (NDMC). DM staffs are secretary committee of National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) This year LRC DM submitted plan to NDMO www.ifrc.org www.ifrc.org Saving lives, changing minds. Specific expectations from IFRC in 2015 Regional Community Safety and Resilience Forum what are the specific areas that NSs expect IFRC can support to operationalize Resilience approach Capacity on develop IEC material include on Climate Change Adaptation(CCA), Cartoon DVD for Disaster Risk Reduction(DRR) and health Refresher-training for National Disaster Response Team (NDRT) in pilot project in Vientiane province. Training of Trainers on FA two time in 2015 Training of Trainers on ECV two time in 2015 Support to enhance the quality of current program and development of new initiatives IFRC support fund for project integration between CCA and CBDRR Support to position NSs in different forums National and regional (like ASEAN) IFRC support to link National Society with regional to implementing project in risk area Support to enhance our regional cooperation (CSR forum, peer to peer support, staff on loan, Reginal Disaster Response Team RDRT, etc) Sharing information, coordination and exchange experiences among ore regional. www.ifrc.org www.ifrc.org Saving lives, changing minds.
