  2. TRANSITION YEAR The Transition Year Programme is Col iste amonn R s is a one year non-compulsory programme. The aim of the programme is- To provide a good academic basis for beginning the Senior Cycle To develop teamwork through task orientated projects. Develop links between school and the wider community To develop students to become more responsible for their own development. To introduce students to a wide range of cultural and sporting activities. To help prepare students to become responsible members of society.

  3. MODULES Currently we have 4 classes in TY. Each class group has 4 timetables throughout the year. They study a timetable for 7-8 weeks and then rotate the timetable. This rotation allows the boys to study a wide variety of modules and keeps the programme fresh.

  5. ASSESSMENT Attendance (20% of the marks) Classwork & Application (40% of the marks)- at end of each rotation marks are awarded for application and participation. Portfolio interview (40% of the marks)

  10. WORK EXPERIENCE For 2 rotations in the year each student will go on work experience for 7-8 weeks. This occurs on a Monday. The student organises the work experience ( keep in mind some employers need student to be vetted). Student will give employer our schools insurance policy, child protection policy and a letter from the school indicating the dates of the placement. Week long work experience was also offered with the Guards, Mini Med in Waterford and the Army.

  12. GISCE BRONZE AWARD FOR 2020-2021 Presidents Award- is a self- development programme for young people in Ireland between the ages of 15 and 25. To achieve the award, you set a demanding challenge in the areas of 1. Community involvement 2. Personal skill 3. Physical recreation 4. Adventure journey.

  13. TY PROGRAMME FEE Currently is 450- includes all the trips. Increase next year to 470 due to G ISCE.

  14. HOW TO APPLY Fill up the application form and boys are to return to Mrs Scallan by this Friday 7th.
