QACPS embarked on a journey towards teacher evaluation reform as mandated by the Education Reform Act of 2010, aiming to implement a comprehensive system by 2013-14. The school also participated in the MSDE pilot in 2011-2012, with notable paradigm shifts towards fair evaluation procedures. School performance data from 2011-12 showcases high levels of student proficiency and growth across various subjects and ranks within the state and county.

  4. In the book of life, the answers are not in the back. - Charlie Brown AS A RESULT OF THE EDUCATION REFORM ACT OF 2010 . . . County Boards of Education were charged with developing a fair, transparent, and rigorous evaluation system that included student growth as a significant component and was developed mutually with the LEA s bargaining unit. The Performance Evaluation system (for both Teachers and Principals) is to be fully implemented during the 2013-14 school year.

  5. FOR QACPS THIS MEANT SOME MAJOR PARADIGM SHIFTS, INCLUDING: Major revisions in both our current evaluative systems and procedures for teachers and principals Establishing a multi-level rating system Including student growth measures Seeking approval from the QACEA

But Im beginning to consider it. - Charlie Brown QACPS WAS ONE OF 7 COUNTIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MSDE PILOT IN 2011-2012 During the Pilot Year: Multi-disciplinary team was established and met bi-monthly 7 Schools took part with approximately 140 teachers participating

  7. MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING PILOT YEAR Established the culture! Revised Observation and Evaluation documents Developed a multi-tiered rubric Identified assessments to be used for measuring Student Growth Worked towards improving Inter-Rater Reliability and FASTe Developed Professional Practice template for Principal Evaluation

A life should be planned inning by inning. - Peppermint Patty During the 2012-2013 field test year, QACPS included all 14 schools, all principals, and nearly all teachers in the Field Test Key stakeholder groups received PD on Student Learning Outcomes through MSDE Teachers received PD on SLOs through their Principals Established Student Growth models Completed our Field Test report for MSDE Developed DVDs to share with Teachers

  10. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON: The scoring formula for MSA, School Progress Index and overall student growth The formula for the comprehensive evaluation rating Attribution issues Novice teachers

  11. Life is like an ice cream cone. . . You have to learn to lick it! - Charlie Brown OUR SUCCESSES Our knowledge of the evaluation process has increased significantly! All stakeholders are gaining experience in how to write SLOs, before they count! Some of our principal and teacher SLOs are on the MSDE website as exemplary examples! Our Bargaining Unit approved the plan and it has been used as a model for others!

  12. Our Field Test Report was approved for implementation in 2013-14 with no changes! The spirit of collaboration between LEAs is high! Our Task Force is a highly effective collaborative team and the team members serve as ambassadors and leaders for the TPE! We believe we can get there!
