RADIOGRAPHY Randolph Community College Information Session Fall 2021 Admission
Information Please download and submit the RAD info session questionnaire to Ms. Elaine Sill: ewsill@randolph.edu Please download the RAD packet, the radiography sequence sheet, and the student medical form
THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS PHASE I (completed by June 1) 1. Complete general admission requirements of Randolph Community College. If new student, complete an RCC admissions application. Current students skip to number 2. Provide official copies of high school transcript and/or high school equivalency test scores and all college transcripts. Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.gov or contact the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs for assistance. 2. Student must be eligible to enter the program s required English and math courses without a co-requisite. 3. Complete the TEAS VI Test. The highest scores will be used in admissions decisions. Test scores are applicable for three years from the test date. There is no cut score for the exam. 4. A 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on the most recent transcript, college or high school. A 2.5 GPA must be maintained throughout the admissions process and maintained throughout the program.
THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS CONTINUED PHASE I (completed by June 1) 5. Attend mandatory information session. (Dates will be listed on the Radiography home page on the RCC website.) 6. Submit documentation required for the ranking sheet to Student Services Counselor. Students will be notified by MyRCC email of acceptance into the Radiography program during the week of June 15 for fall enrollment. Students must respond by email within seven calendar days to accept placement in the program. If a student declines or does not respond by the deadline, another student will be offered placement
THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS CONTINUED PHASE II (completed by July 12that NOON) Please see the explanation of PHASE II handout Complete student medical information form (including current immunizations and negative TB test). Please note: Some of these immunizations may take 6 months to complete. No extensions will be granted. Students may submit medical requirements to the administrative assistant for health sciences any time after receiving the Phase I completion email, although students are encouraged to verify MMR and Varicella immunizations early.
THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS CONTINUED PHASE II (completed by July 12that NOON) Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association for adults and children. - Attend New Radiography Orientation. Students will be notified of date and time. - Criminal background checks and drug screens are required at the expense of the student for clinical clearance. DO NOT attempt to complete this process before being directed to do so.
PHASE II (completed by July 12that NOON Do not wait to start collecting your immunization information if you are serious about pursuing a career in health care Only the physical and the 2 TB skin tests (or other TB options) will expire in 1 year
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS & DRUG SCREEN RCC does not require a criminal background check or drug screen, but the clinical sites you will be attending in the Fall do. Students with discrepancies may be denied clinical access and may not be able to sit for the ARRT registry You will be required to answer ethics questions on the ARRT certification application. They will be performed after you have successfully completed Phases I- II. The exact cost will vary from person to person depending on how many places you have lived, how many names you have had, etc. The total cost will be given to you at the new student orientation. Program faculty NEVER view the results of the criminal background check and drug screen. Students who are denied clinical access by a clinical site due to background check and/or drug screen results will be automatically dismissed from the program.
LENGTH OF PROGRAM Following the curriculum plan the Radiography program is five semesters long: - Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 - Summer 2022 - Fall 2022 - Spring 2023 (graduate) It is highly suggested that you work on completing your general education requirements (BIO, PHY, ENG, etc.) prior to entering the program. Students must obtain a grade of C or better in all RAD courses in order to progress in the Radiography program. Students must obtain a grade of B or better in BIO 163, MAT 171 or PHY 110 and 110A, ENG 111, ENG 114, ACA 111, PHI 240, and PSY 150 in order to progress in the Radiography program. **Students who choose to take BIO 168 and BIO 169 instead of BIO 163 will receive credit for BIO 163 if they earn a B or better.
Radiography Curriculum Courses Please view the Radiography curriculum. All radiography courses must be completed with a C or higher in order to continue to progress in the program. All general education courses must be completed either in the semester listed or they may be completed early, with a grade of B or higher
ARRT At the end of the 5 semesters you will receive an Associate s Degree in Applied Science and be eligible to apply to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification Exam Graduation from the Radiography program does not guarantee that a student will be permitted to sit for the exam. JRCERT Randolph Community College is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). JRCERT accreditation is considered a gold standard for medical imaging programs. IMPORTANT & HELPFUL INFORMATION Be sure to keep your MyRCC email account cleaned out and check it frequently. This is the only way the RCC Radiography program will communicate with you. If you cannot access your MyRCC account please contact the IT Help Desk at (336) 625-1573. You must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA throughout the admissions process or you will not be able to progress to the next phase. Upon successful completion of Phases I-II your Radiography advisors will register you for Fall classes, no need to schedule an appointment to do so. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to complete each phase of the admissions process, especially Phase II!
