Strategic Highway Safety Plan Update 2020 Review
Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) is a multi-agency effort to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries on public roads, mandated by federal law. The plan must be updated every five years to utilize Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds. Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) receives significant annual funds for this purpose. The SHSP identifies safety priorities, establishes performance measures, and promotes collaboration to enhance efficiency. Various emphasis areas and action plans target key aspects of road safety. A timely review of the plan is crucial for ensuring accuracy and effectiveness.
