The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. Proverbs 9:10
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! Psalm 33:8
The Fear of God: To biblically fear God is to stand in awe/reverence of God and his holiness, majesty and power; it is to agree that God is worthy of all honor, all praise and all glory.

Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. 3 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. 4 He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. Psalm 36:1-4
What it looks like to not fear God Transgression in the heart No fear of God in life Flattering of self Pride and arrogance to sin Wrongly convinces self that sin will go unnoticed and unpunished Speaks words of trouble and deceit Behaves foolishly Plots trouble while sleeping Walks a path of unrighteousness Does not reject evil.
What about our culture today? The culture today is indifferent toward God, God is weightless, inconsequential.
How is this indifference playing out today? The commands of God are less authoritative in society than the culture s pressure to disregard the ways of God. The judgments of God have less weight and influence on society than the social media posts of celebrities. The truth of God s Word is no more compelling to society than the latest fake news story. The love of God is less genuine to society than the latest Hollywood love story.
God is still God This indifference says nothing about God, but it reveals everything about humanity.
Why I dont fear God And how I m still scared of other things I m afraid of abandonment because I don t think I m good enough. I m afraid I m not doing the right thing by me and not valuing myself enough. I m afraid I m missing out and not committed to anything. I m afraid my health problems will take away my dreams of having healthy children. I m afraid of stress.
A Different Kind of Fear I fear that I may not have loved people as I should have. I fear that I may have lived too much of my life looking out for myself and not others. I fear that I kept quiet too often when presented with opportunities to make Christ known. I fear that I loved my sin too much. I fear that my sins caused harm and pain in the lives of others. I fear that I have too often displeased my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I fear that I may not hear Well done good and faithful servant .
Does everyone who says they believe in God live in a way that is pleasing to God?
The Realities of Living in the Fear of God 1) We should live in the reality that God has called all people, in all places, at all times to repent of their sin and trust in God through Christ.

Living in the Fear of God We cannot allow the indifference of the world to quench our witness, instead we must bring the weight and reality of God upon the indifference of the world.
I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. 5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! Luke 12:4-5
