Implementing PBIS strategies like Bear Bucks, CICO, MIR, mentorship, and rewards consistently is crucial for the success of school-wide and county-wide initiatives. Teachers issue Minor Incident Reports (MIR) to address minor behaviors, with specific steps for handling repeated incidents. The process includes escalating responses for continued incidents, ending with referral if necessary. The PBIS team monitors students in CICO monthly to track progress and offer support for ongoing success.

  1. PBIS is a school-wide goal and a county-wide initiative! Consistency is key to success! Consistent with Bear Bucks Consistent with CICO Consistent with MIR Consistent with Mentorship Consistent with Rewards

  2. Should be posted in classroom

  3. Minor Incident Report Issued by the teacher, to the student; note the steps on the MIR. Minor behaviors Let student know that they received MIR When you issue the 4th MIR to the same student, issue a discipline referral through Infinite Campus to the appropriate grade-level administrator. In IC, document the MIR infractions. Do not send student! Administrator will call them out of class. Student receives administrative detention but is not removed from the classroom environment at this point.

  4. Minor Incident Report #1 Location: Classroom Other: ________________ Behavior: Class Disruption Preparation Not doing work Noises Sleeping Out of seat Minor disrespect Horseplay Property disrespect Other: _________________ WARNING Minor Incident Report #3 Location: Classroom Other: ________________ Behavior: Class Disruption Preparation Not doing work Noises Sleeping Out of seat Minor disrespect Horseplay Property disrespect Other: _________________ PHONE CALL/DETENTION (TEACHER DISCRETION) Minor Incident Report #2 Location: Classroom Other: ________________ Behavior: Class Disruption Preparation Not doing work Noises Sleeping Out of seat Minor disrespect Horseplay Property disrespect Other: _________________ WARNING/PARENT EMAIL Minor Incident Report #4 Location: Classroom Other: ________________ Behavior: Class Disruption Preparation Not doing work Noises Sleeping Out of seat Minor disrespect Horseplay Property disrespect Other: _________________ REFERRAL/SIGNATURE

  5. On the next occurrence of a minor incident by said student (5th total), issue a second discipline referral in Infinite Campus. Do not send student unless they need to be removed from class. The administrator will call them out. NOW YOUR WORK IS DONE! Do NOT start the MIR process again on the same student! Student will then begin the Check In / Check Out process (to be outlined later). The PBIS team will review students in the CICO program monthly to monitor their progress and make suggestions for their continuation with the process.

  6. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you follow through on the actions listed on the MIR. 1st MIR: Verbal Warning 2nd MIR: Verbal Warning/Parent Email 3rd MIR: Teacher Detention/Parent Phone Call 4th MIR: Office Referral If you have not followed this process, it becomes harder for administrators to complete the intervention at our level! Ensures that students who need to be removed from the environment for repeat offenses have been allowed their due process.

  7. The PBIS program and CICO procedures should not be viewed/relayed as a punishment system They, in fact, attempt to provide a chance for the students to avoid severe punishment for minor offenses. (support system) Preserves class time, which in turn improves the teaching and learning process!

  8. This is where Bear Bucks come in! These are to be issued when you recognize a student going above and beyond the expectations set by the BEARS matrix, or meeting one of those expectations REALLY WELL! Redemption by students for various rewards
