  2. Filling Out Your Application for an Internship

  3. First, you will add your name, First The grade level you will be when you intern, And your current GPA. Keep in mind you must have at least a 3.0 GPA to intern.

  4. Second Answer the following questions on the proposal. Really think through these questions and answer them as in- depth as possible.

  5. Third Create a syllabus and grading rubric to turn in with this proposal. No proposal will be accepted without a syllabus or grading rubric so read these guidelines carefully. Examples are included on this slide.

  6. This section of the application describes specifics about the final public exhibition. Fourth Read this carefully and start putting together your assessment committee early in the project. *You must invite an administrator, teacher, and two community members to your final presentation. *Your final presentation must be scheduled before finals week.

  7. Students must complete a minimum of 90 hours in order to obtain credit for interning. Fifth Fill out when you will be in your internship and the number of credits you are wishing to gain from this (1 credit per semester). Also include where you will intern, and who your supervising teacher at Burris will be. Your Burris teacher will issue your grades.

  8. Sign your name, Get a parent signature, Sixth And your internship supervisor s signature. Then turn this form back in to the Counseling Center. A committee will determine your eligibility to complete an internship and let you know if your application was accepted or needs revisions.

  9. This is what the time sheet you will turn in at the end of the semester will look like. Seventh Remember to log your 90 hours and turn your hours log in to your supervising teacher If you have any questions or need help, please stop by the Counseling Center!

  10. What are your requirements during your Internship?

  11. Make sure to fill in your hours log. It should reflect 90 hours invested in your Internship this semester. Hours Log At the end of the semester give your hours log to your Burris supervising teacher.

  12. You should be writing weekly journals (paper or electronic) of what you are learning/experiencing during your Internship. This will help you as you put together your Final Project. Weekly Journals At the end of the semester turn in your journals to your Burris supervising teacher.

  13. Essays/Literature Reviews/Research Based on your Internship Proposal, you might have included essays, literature reviews, or research. Make sure to turn those in during the assigned weeks to your Burris supervising teacher.

  14. Make sure that you are engaged with what you are experiencing at your Internship. Look for activities that you can complete, or talk with the people around you to learn from their life/career/education experiences. You should not be on your cell phone during your time at your Internship. Attitude and Involvement

  15. *Remember, you need to invite a school counselor, administrator, teacher, and two community members to your final presentation. Final Presentation Your final presentation should be 15-30 minutes long and show an overview of all that you learned and experienced during the semester, and how this experience has shaped your future plans. *Stay in contact and check in with your supervising teacher throughout the semester. Let them know how your internship is going and show them your journal and time logs. *Your final presentation has to be completed before Finals week.
