  1. The image of a small blue world rising in the dark vastness of space over the sun-lit surface F It was a picture that would eventually lead to a thousand environmental movements, Remarkably, it was taken voer 40 years ago.

  2. They flew over around the far side, which is not visible from Earth. H They were also in effect the first people to lose contact with their own planet. They were not able to see or radio the Earth for the duration of their journey behind the moon , and it was only when they had completed the orbit that they could again communicate .

  3. for the first few orbits, the crew had their backs to the Earth and did not see the now- famous view that would change their lives. C It was only on the fourth time round that one of the men turned and saw it. Look at that picture ? he said, his words captured for history

  4. It is these photographs, taken approximately., that became the favourite images of the environmental movement. G They showed the clear contrast between the grey, empty surface and the bright blue-and- white ball of the fertile Earth. It was a symbol of warmth and life in a bare desert of deathly coldness.

  5. hundreds of still images were taken but in 1972 manned flight to the moon ended. A Consequetly, only 24 people have actually seen the whole of the Earth from space.

  6. Astronomer Carl Sagan caught the mood well when another picture of Earth was taken from space in 1990. D This time the distance was nearly six billion kilometres. In this picture, the Earth appeared as like a tiny bit of dust caught in the sunshine.

  25. The more educated people are, the less superstitious they are.

  26. If you meet someone and you can t remember their name, it s best to admit it immediately.

  27. All zoos should be closed. People who want to see animals should watch documentaries or travel to the animals natural habitats.

  28. Learning things by heart is a waste of time.

  29. People shouldnt be allowed to keep a large dog in a flat.
