Exciting Class Pet Project: Welcoming Aristotle the Axolotl!
Father Christmas sent a special letter to Year 4, announcing the arrival of a class pet named Aristotle the Axolotl. The students are tasked with researching axolotls to prepare for caring for their new friend in January. They are encouraged to create a care leaflet and a map poster, with the best works to be displayed by Aristotle's tank. The project aims to teach responsibility and kindness towards animals.

Father Christmas sent an important letter to school, which is on the next slide. I will let you read it and then I need you to carry out some research. Mrs Dewar This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA-NC
Letter to Year 4 from Father Christmas Dear Year 4, Earlier this term several of you wrote letters to Mrs. Lovegrove to ask for a class pet. I sent my elves to investigate whether or not you were the kind of class who would be able to care for a creature and be kind to it. My Elves reported back to me that during the nativity day you were very gentle with the animals. Over Christmas Mrs Dewar will look after your new pet, Aristotle the Axolotl. He is still only a baby and needs to grow before he can go into the tank. I am going to send him to Windsor Castle tomorrow, by special delivery. When he is the right size, the tank will come into the classroom and it will be your responsibility to care for him. I have provided the tank and a few extra items. During the Christmas holiday, it would help, if you all carried out some research into axolotls so that you are ready to take on this big responsibility in January. Wishing you all a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Love Father Christmas This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY-SA-NC
I need you to carry out some research. You could produce a care leaflet to help us look after him. You could include information about what he will eat and how to prepare the tank water. Maybe you could produce a poster to show a map of where axolotls come from? I will put some of the best pieces of work up, by his tank, in January.
