  1. The Humanities and Social Mobility Empowering The Person Who Shapes Their Own Career

  2. Skills and Knowledge I majored in mechanical engineering, and almost everything technical I learned is now obsolete. Only the humanities and basic arts and sciences stand the test of time. I continually use critical thinking skills learned in my college humanities courses. K.B., Graduated college in 1994

  3. Non-Elite Public High Schools and Academic Development While districts and schools are supposed to reserve these various school discipline policies for serious offenses, many also employ these measures for minor and subjective infractions, including dress and hair code violations, talking in class, truancy, tardiness, willful defiance, and more. In many instances, students of color and students with disabilities are targeted for these minor offenses in ways that attack their cultural identity and strip them of their rights to a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment. (Wriston 2023).

  6. N.A. (Future Career, Software Engineer) Another skill applicable is the receipt and use of criticism of my ideas from others. As a software engineer, it is very important to be able to accept criticism from both consumers and coworkers that could be used to make improvements to my software. With this ability, I must also be humble under pressure and learn to take criticism positively. It is also important that I use the skill of telling stories about myself in the software engineering field because I must show and prove to others that I am worthy of a leadership position. I also have to present myself well to be a likable person, so consumers are more likely to invest in my software, and for others to also be willing to work with me.

  7. J.R. (Future Career, Graphic Design) While examining essays from other writers, I have learned to analyze language for meaning and intent. In a client-based field, such as graphic design, knowing what the customer is looking for simply by hearing or reading a description is imperative. By analyzing the diction and connotation of the language used by clients, I will be able to provide a final product that will meet their expectations. In the case that my product is not up to par, I should be able to listen to the criticism of the client/employer to improve my product.

  8. Student Writing: Hired or Fired? STUDENT DRAFT After that night Maureen is not the same, unable to get the man of her mind the next night going back to the fair. Purchasing a ticket to go through the funhouse where the man was spotted to be a part of. As she wondered about the funhouse which turned out to not be so fun;she finds herself lost. Following what seems to be the right path is a dead end; a room with noway out. Desperately looking for a way out in the utter darkness with flashes of light that don t stay on long enough for her eyes to undulate. Searching the walls with no hope, crawling thefloors with no direction, and screaming with no sounds. In despair Maureen crawls up in a ball, hyperventilating and filled with tears as she tries to come herself. In the darkness appears the man covered in tattoos the one Maureen is looking for. In this case, Maureen is searching for the man; which indicates that something beyond her means of understanding was influencing her. The hero that buys the damsel in distress heart. After escorting Maureen out of the dead end through a hidden door led into another funhouse room full of mirrors.

  9. EDITED VERSION (look at everything in red, even commas) After that night Maureen is not the same, unable to get the man of her mind the next night going back to the fair. She purchases a ticket to go through the funhouse where the man was spotted to be a part of. As she wonders about the funhouse which turned out to not be so fun; she finds herself lost. Following what seems to be the right path is a dead end; a room with no way out. She is desperately looking for a way out in the utter darkness with flashes of light that don t stay on long enough for her eyes to un-dilate. She is searching the walls with no hope, crawling the floors with no direction, and screaming with no sounds. In despair, Maureen curls up in a ball, hyperventilating and filled with tears as she tries to calm herself. In the darkness appears the man covered in tattoos, the one Maureen is looking for. In this case, Maureen is searching for the man; which indicates that something beyond her means of understanding is influencing her. The man Jamie is the hero that buys the damsel-in-distress s heart. After escorting Maureen out of the dead end through a hidden door, he leads her into another funhouse room full of mirrors. I added a subject and a verb here, to turn the verbal form looking into the active present-tense verb is looking. I m just showing you a variety of ways to fix frags. I added a subject and a verb here, because the original (the hero that buys the heart) is just a noun plus what they call a relative clause. Here s info about relative clauses if it will be helpful https://writingcenter.unc.edu/tips-and-tools/relative- clauses/#:~:text=What%20is%20a%20relative%20clause,more%20information%20about%20a%20noun.
