  3. 2b. Fatherly Love (Ps 103:13-18) 13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;14for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. 15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field;16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children s children 18with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

  4. 3. Gods throne (19-22). Sovereignty. 19The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, my soul.

  5. Remember Remember and Obey (Ps 78:1-72) My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.I will open my mouth with a parable.. we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done. ..so the next generation would know them Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. They would not be like their ancestors a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him (Ps 78:1-2, 4, 6-8).

  6. How does Psalm 78 point to Christ? 1. Jesus taught in parables (Ps 78:2). Jesus is the Bread from Heaven (Ps 78:24). I am the bread of life. I am the bread that came down from heaven (Jn 6:35. 41). 4. Jesus is the ultimate good shepherd. Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 57:7-8: My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Deuteronomy 8:10-14:10When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.11Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.12Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,13and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,14then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 1 Corinthians 10:11: These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us

  12. 2. What are the benefits that we should never ever forget (Psalm 103:3-5)? 3who forgives all your sins [2 Sam 12:13] and heals all your diseases, 4who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love [ ese ] and compassion [ra am], 5who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle s. Isaiah 40:30-31: 30Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31but those who hope in the LORDwill renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  13. Gods Love and Compassion (Lam 3:22-23). 22Because of the LORD s great love [ ese ] we are not consumed, for his compassions [ra am] never fail. 23They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  16. 5. Why is God compassionate toward us (14-18)? 14for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. 15The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; 16the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD s love [ ese ] is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children s children 18with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
