MCA Head Start Programming Macomb Community Action Head Start Traditional Double session Head Start (3.5 hrs morning or afternoon sessions 4 days per week) Full Day / Full Week Head Start/GSRP (6.5 hrs 5 days per week) Early Head Start Center-based (full day only) Early Head Start Home-based A program developed to provide comprehensive services to limited income children and families EHS-FCC (Family Child Care) Classrooms are located throughout the county in school buildings, early childhood centers, churches, and homes Funded to serve 1022 pregnant women, babies and preschool children EHS 0-3 has 180 slots HS 3-5 has 842 slots

  2. Who Head Start Serves Head Start serves children from birth to 5 years old and pregnant mothers. Head Start serves children and pregnant mothers whose family income is within 100% of the federal poverty guidelines. Head Start serves children who are in the foster care system. Head Start serves children whose families meet the definition of homeless according to the McKinney-Vento Act. Head Start serves children who receive TANF and/or SSI

  3. Head Start Services Head Start must enroll 10% children with disabilities. Full time Disabilities Coordinator on staff. Head Start serves children with mental health & behavioral issues. We are a zero expulsion program and have a partnership with Macomb CMH. Head Start provides health and dental screenings as well as referrals. Head Start provides case management and referral support for family issues. Head Start provides developmental & behavioral screenings and individualizes the research based curriculum to each child's needs.

Head Start Application Process What to Bring to the Application Appointment: Birth Certificate/Statement of Live Birth Proof of Residency (utility bill/driver s license) Child s IFSP/IEP (if applicable) Doctor/Dentist Information Documentation of Foster Placement ***Prior to the child starting in the classroom, a current physical is required (within the last 12 months)
