  3. 21.12.2017 Dear Louise: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family - the Year of your 40th Birthday! The world is grateful to Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe for their selfless work your birth was certainly an outstanding medical achievement. Your parents deserve admiration and deep gratitude for their consent to participate in the trial. Your birth and your name alone have become a symbol of hope for millions of childless people on our planet dreaming to have a child. During 40 years after your birth, more than 10 million children have been born on all the continents due to the use of different IVF programs unified by the term ART . Several years ago some specialists in the Internet1 suggested to celebrate July 25 as World Embryologist Day The idea was heartily supported in Russia where professionals get together on that day to remember the Founding Fathers and to wish you the best of health and well-being. This year, an initiative group has addressed the Russian Association of Human Reproduction (RAHR) with a proposal to make this day a holiday of all professionals working in ART. That is why in September 2017 at the 27th RAHR Conference we decided to celebrate The ART Day. In November, the Conference of the Kazakhstan Association of Reproductive Medicine (KARM) supported the initiative. We suggested to establish the World ART Day and the idea was approved by some of our colleagues in Armenia, Belorussia, Israel, Ukraine, USA, the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) and the International Committee Monitoring of ART (ICMART). Dear Louise, your birth was the culmination of dozens of years of hard labor with only a hope of a successful result. The World ART Day the holiday in honor of a wonderful victory of Science and Medicine over infertility, a victory of Light over Darkness; it also means the formation of a positive attitude in the society towards these methods, security and psychological comfort for ART children and their parents, and an opportunity to avow about modern methods and technologies and their results in overcoming the sufferings of infertility. We think that your support of the event will be of great importance as there still exist ART opponents and bigots of various kinds in many countries. As your birthday is the highlight of the holiday, we ask you for your agreement to celebrate the World ART Day on July 25. Wishing all the best to you and your family, on behalf of and representing the ART community, Professor V.S. Korsak RAHR President 1 (https://ivf.net/ivf/today-25th-july-is-world-embryologists-day-o7429.html).

  4. It is one of important means to inform the society about current achievements in fertility treatment and it is also our gratitude to pioneers and patients who took the chance that finally brought to the excellent result.
