Effect of Weighted Sled Towing and Weighted Vest on Sprinter Acceleration Performance
Short distance running involves crucial phases affecting sprint performance, with acceleration being particularly important. Training methods like weighted sled towing and weighted vest usage have been found effective in enhancing sprint acceleration. This study investigated the impact of these methods on sprinters' acceleration performance. Findings suggest both training techniques improve acceleration ability, though statistically, there is no significant difference between weighted sled towing and weighted vest training. The study population consisted of eight male athletes who participated in a 30-meter sprint acceleration test.

THE EFFECT OF WEIGHTED SLED TOWING AND WEIGHTED VEST ON SPRINTER ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE ANNISA ERLIANI PUTRI PRATIWI Departement of Sport Coaching Education, Faculty of Sport and Healt Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
INTRODUCTION In short distance running there are four phases that affect sprint running performance, namely: 1) start / reaction 2) acceleration / acceleration 3) run at maximum speed 4) speed endurance. of these stages the acceleration phase is very important (Jarver, 2019). Step frequency and step length are also needed. One training method that is considered effective and efficient is the training method using resistance or weights to maintain position, technique, and develop special strength when accelerating sprint running.
Problem Formulation 1. 1. Is there a significant effect of weighted sled towing on the acceleration performance of sprinters? 2. 2. Is there a significant effect of weighted vest on sprinter acceleration performance? acceleration performance of sprinters? 3. 3. Is there a significant difference in effect between weighted sled towing and weighted performance? vest on sprinter acceleration

DISCUSSION Training using weighted sled towing was shown to have an effect on the acceleration performance of sprinters. According to (Petrakos, 2016) weighted sled towing has become a popular method among coaches to improve sprint speed, especially acceleration performance. Training using a weighted vest has been shown to have an influence on the acceleration performance of sprinters. According to (Irmavirta, 2012) training with a weighted vest or running with weights can also increase speed, one advantage is that the tool can help to achieve maximum speed potential even with additional weight. Both training methods can improve sprint acceleration ability. Although there is a difference between training using weighed sled towing and weighed vest on sprint acceleration performance, statistically there is no difference between the two methods. on sprint acceleration performance, but statistically the difference between the two forms of training is not significantly different. the two forms of training are not significantly different

CONCLUSION There is a significant effect of weighted sled towing training on acceleration performance of sprinters. There is a significant effect of weighted vest training on the acceleration performance of sprinters. acceleration performance of sprinters. There is no significant difference in effect between weighted sled towing training and weighted vest training on sprinter acceleration performance. towing exercise with weighted vest on sprinter acceleration performance SUGGESTIONS Future research can use a larger sample Coaches can apply training using weighted sled towing or weighted vest, because both training methods have a significant effect on training speed and acceleration performance of athletes.
