  2. What do the letters in What do the letters in LGBTQ stand for? LGBTQ stand for? L G B T Q Lesbian is used to describe a female whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to other females. Gay is used to describe a male whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to other males. Some females identify as gay rather than lesbian. Bisexual describes an individual who is physically, romantically, and/or emotionally attracted to both male and female. Transgender is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. Questioning refers to individuals who are unsure of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

  3. A few statistics A few statistics The government estimates that six per cent of the UK population identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual. Estimates suggest that one per cent of the UK population, around 650,000 people, identify as trans. We don t want this at Plumstead Manor The University of Cambridge polling for Stonewall in The School Report c(2012) found that Over half of lesbian, gay and bisexual young people don t feel there is an adult at school they can talk to about their sexual orientation. One in four don t have an adult to talk to at school, home or elsewhere.

They have received training (this will continue) and are fully committed to provide support, listen, guide and advise.
