The Community Climate Change Fund in Warwickshire offers up to £25,000 for community projects addressing climate change. Constituted not-for-profit organizations in Warwickshire can apply. Funding rounds occur biannually, with additional funding sources allowed. Certain groups are ineligible to apply.

Green Shoots Green Shoots - - www.warwickshire.gov.uk/greenshootsfund www.warwickshire.gov.uk/greenshootsfund 1m Community Climate Change Fund for community projects to mitigate against, and adapt to, the impact of climate change. To achieve:- Increase the adaptability and resilience of Warwickshire to the effects of climate change Reduce impacts on the environment, particularly regarding climate change Ensure funded projects benefit the wider Warwickshire community

  3. To support: To support:- - Mitigating or adapting to climate change and the environment Benefits to the local community and connections between other groups and projects Development of awareness in environmental issues and capacity building of local communities Legacy and long-term impacts

  4. The funding The funding 1m in total Maximum Green Shoots investment of 25,000. No minimum value Applicants are not restricted to one application but any one applicant/parish etc will only be granted funding across all projects submitted, up to a total maximum of 25,000 across the lifespan of the scheme Additional funding can be used to top up the grant provided by this scheme, such as by matched funding or from other sources Biannual funding rounds, with each round open for a period of ten weeks

  5. Who can apply to the fund? Who can apply to the fund? Constituted 'not-for-profit' community organisations in Warwickshire Non-constituted or new not-for-profit groups working in Warwickshire that can be supported by a constituted mainstream service, Town or Parish Council or community group willing to administer the funds through an organisational bank account Warwickshire Town and Parish Councils Schools, if applying as a PTA or Friends of group excluding independently funded schools

  6. Who cannot apply to the fund? Who cannot apply to the fund? Party Political/lobby groups Individuals Any businesses Independently funded schools It is unlikely that applications from statutory organisations will be supported, with the exception of applications from town and parish councils

Funding Criteria Funding Criteria Reducing carbon emissions Mitigating or adapting to climate change and the environment Benefits to the local community and connections between other groups and projects Development of awareness in environmental issues Projects that build the capacity of local communities to develop, implement and sustain their own solutions Projects that have lasting benefits and long-term impacts Projects which have been risk assessed and mitigation steps planned

The Application Process The Application Process Applications should be submitted using the online application form found on our webpage: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/Greenshootsfund Please fill in the web based application form carefully with an appropriate level of detail inc costs and benefits and plan 2 levels, up to 5k and from 5k to 25k Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 17 May 2021 Application forms can be submitted at any time, but funding decisions will only be made following the deadline date. We may contact you before the closing date if we require any further information, so early submission is advantageous

Evaluation Evaluation Panel of County Council officers inc experts 10 week evaluation and approval process Clarification maybe needed so please be ready to respond quickly Successful applicants will be duly notified of arrangements for receipt of funding A grant acceptance form/agreement will be required

Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation Monitoring is the collection and analysis of information about a project Progress and final reporting should include periodic and retrospective assessment of the project Sharing information on the project is important to build community knowledge and capacity Willingness to be referenced as a case study Receipt of funding from Warwickshire County Council s Green Shoots fund should be referenced in publicity

Example project areas: Example project areas: Energy: reduce consumption, use of renewable forms of energy eg insulation, solar PV, heat pump Waste minimisation: reducing waste, re-using resources, recycling resources (e.g. repair caf , swap shop, library of things, community fridge, community composting) Biodiversity: such as the creation of pocket parks, tree planting, adaptation and living with the future impacts of climate change Sustainable transport: encouraging active travel eg walking and cycling
