Introduction The Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has introduced a new degree programme B.Sc. in Strategic Studies and International Relations beginning from the academic year 2020. The Officer Cadets as well as Day Scholars (Civilians) will have an opportunity to follow this undergraduate degree programme in the field of International Relations.

  3. A Hybrid Degree Programme This is a hybrid degree programme combining the essentials of both Strategic Studies and International Relations. Strategic Studies is considered considerably a security-oriented sub- discipline of the broader area of International Relations. gives special attention to traditional as well as non-traditional security challenges. In an era of global disruptions, this is a very useful subject for the understanding complexities in national security and world politics. Objectives of the Programme One of the main learning objectives of this degree programme is to cater to the demand for skilled young professionals in the fields of national security, foreign relations, and work in Government and Non-Governmental Organisations in Sri Lanka and abroad. It is imperative for our universities to prepare their students to be able to think creatively and strategically about issues of security and international affairs.
