  1. Puzzling Polygons Rebecca Klemm, PhD September 14, 2015

  2. What is a Polygon?

  3. A closed shape created with straight lines

  4. Must all of the sides of a polygon be the same length?

  5. No. Only equilateral polygons have equal length sides.

  6. Why are there 360 degrees in a circle?

  7. The circle dates back to Babylon whose numeric system was a base 60 system.

  8. Thanks to Babylon, we have 60 seconds in a minute and 60 seconds in an hour. The year was believed to have 360 days.

  9. Where in the world is the location of ancient Babylon?

  10. Why base 60?

  11. 1, 2,3,4,5,6, 10, 15, 30, 60

  12. What type of writing did the scribes of Babylon use?

  13. Babylonian (Sumerian) Clay Tablet and Stylus

  14. From Clay Tablet/Stylus to ModernTablet/Stylus modern tablet and stylus.

  15. Interior and Exterior Angles of Polygons
