  4. Program Policy HHSC is coordinating with the Texas Association of Regional Councils (TARC) and the Texas Association of Area Agencies on Aging (T4A) to collect comments on the amendment and the initial draft version of the AAA handbook. proposed rule 4

  5. Program Policy 40 TAC Chapter 85 rule amendment Purpose of the rule amendment is to streamline the language and align the TAC with the OAA. Policy language that currently resides in the TAC will be moved to the new AAA Handbook Rule is currently available for informal comments through September 18th. Will be posted in the Texas Register for the formal comment period at the end of January 2021. Also, for awareness, Title 40 rules are being moved to Title 26, that includes the AAA rules in Chapters 81, 83 and 85. The version of the nutrition rule that will be posted in the Texas Register will have the new TAC Title 26, Chapter 213 rule citations 5

  6. Program Policy AAA Handbook Implementing the new Area Agencies on Aging handbook Purpose is to provide all policy in one document. Will incorporate Program Instructions and Technical Assistance memos. The first version incorporates the policy for the nutrition services programs and will have a landing page for the other sections The initial draft version of the handbook is available for review and comment through September 25, 2020. Posted on the AAA website at https://hhs.texas.gov/doing-business- hhs/provider-portals/long-term-care-providers/area-agencies-aging-aaa. We will continue to work with our stakeholders throughout the process of developing the new handbook and will provide opportunities for additional stakeholder comments and feedback. Plan is to have an approved version of the handbook ready to post by early 2021 to coordinate with the posting of the proposed rules in the Texas Register. 6
