8. Verb Conjugation To conjugate: To put a verb in its correct person and number so that we know who is doing the action. When we conjugate any verb we always begin with its stem.

Step 2: Add the appropriate VERB ENDING to match the subject. They can be identified by their endings: -AR -ER -IR The basic form of the verb that has AR/-ER/-IR on the end is called an INFINITIVE An infinitive identifies the action but not the person who performs it. EX: escuchar - to listen To express both the action AND the person who performs it, we must change the ending of the verb. This process is called CONJUGATION
