  1. Disabled Student Program and Services (DSPS) Eligibility Workshop

  2. Eligibility Requirements To be eligible for DSP&S services: You must be a current LATTC student enrolled in at least one credit/non-credit course. New students can start matriculation process online at www.cccapply.org Students are required to provide an official verification of disability Verification forms must be signed by a licensed professional: Medical Physician, Psychologist or Psychiatrist. Student who show proof of verification of disability will be given a follow up appointment to meet with a DSPS Counselor

  3. DSPS Services DSPS approves reasonable accommodations on a case by case basis, by the participation of interactive process, disability and educational limitations. The following are some of the academic accommodations supportive services which may be approved, depending on the nature of the student's educational limitations. Testing accommodations Priority registration Enrollment assistance Sign language interpreters Counseling: Academic, vocational and personal Academic adjustments Note-Taking assistance Assistive Technology Adaptive Equipment Use of our High Tech Center lab

  4. Counseling DSPS counselors offer new and returning students specialized counseling to assist with coordinating academic accommodations, decision making and educational planning. The Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP- formerly the SEC) is completed/updated every year and outlines educational goals and approved academic accommodations based on current verification and educational limitations. Meet with a DSPS Counselor at least once each semester to review and update academic accommodations as well as develop or update a Student Educational Plan

  5. TEST ACCOMODATIONS Students inquiring about test proctoring adjustments must meet with a counselor. Testing accommodations may be approved as a reasonable academic adjustment if a disability prevents a student from taking tests under standard conditions Testing accommodations include Reduced distractive area Extra time Reader /scriber DSPS Counselors determine reasonable accommodations depending on educational limitations. After verifying disability and educational limitations, the counselor will approve reasonable academic adjustments

  6. Hi-Tech Center All students registered with DSP&S have access to our High Tech computer lab during normal business hours. All computers are equipped with word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Assistive Technology Alt. Media lab Assistant JAWS - screen reading software program Zoomtext - a screen magnification Kurzweil 3000 CCTV Digital Recorder Alternate Media Alternate Media is provided to disabled students according to their individual needs and preferences. Some of the textbook formats offered include: Electronic-Text Large Print Braille Note: At the moment the Hi-Tech center is closed and only remotely services are being offered.

  7. Priority Registration To maintain priority registration students must meet with a counselor at least once per term. New students will receive a registration date consistent with their application for services.

  8. Student Rights Participation in DSPS is voluntary Receiving support services from DSPS does not prevent a student from participating in any other program or activity offered by the college All records maintained by DSPS pertaining to students who participate in the program are confidential and protected from disclosure No information or record is released from the program without the expressed written consent of the student

  9. Student Responsibilities Students receiving academic adjustments (accommodations) and other DSPS services shall: Comply with the Student Code of Conduct as stated in LACCD Board Rules. Be responsible in their use of DSPS services and adhere to written service policies Make measurable progress toward goals developed for the course when enrolled in educational assistance classes as established in the student s Academic Accommodation Plan (AAP) or Meet academic standards established by the college as applied to all students when enrolled in general college classes
