  15. Friday, January 27th, 2017 Senior English Journal: Holden s language through chapters 7 and 8, indicates that he doesn t mind physical pain, in fact, it somewhat fascinates him. He goes as far as fabricating a story about having a brain tumor. As a reader, what does this tell you about his mental state? What is he seeking to accomplish with his lie(s)?   16. Monday, January 30th, 2017 Senior English Journal: At the beginning of Ch. 9, Holden witnesses what he describes as perverse behavior. Is Holden at an age where he is impressionable, or does he have the maturity to manage what he has seen? Explain in detail. Completion of reading, Ch. 9, The Catcher in the Rye Small Group Activity. Students will be assigned Ch. 10, 11 or 12. Read the chapter collectively as a group, and then begin a skit for dramatization. Group presentations will be enacted next class. Only one script should be written with every member s participation. Write all members names on the script. Please turn in the scripts before you leave the classroom.

  17. Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 Senior English Journal: Chapter 11 presents the reader with the opportunity to draw some conclusions, not by what is said, but by what is unsaid. Can people intuitively understand what another person is thinking without the words being said? Explain in detail.
