  2. Direct Object Pronouns The direct object is the word in the sentence that receives the direct action of the verb. It answers the question what or whom about the verb.

  3. The direct object can be either a noun or a pronoun. Luisa is buying the blouse. noun Luisa is buying it. pronoun

  4. Luisa compra la blusa. noun Luisa la compra. pronoun

  5. Direct Object Pronouns The direct object pronouns can replace either a thing or a person. The pronoun must agree with the noun it replaces and it comes right before the verb.

  6. Direct object pronouns can be used to replace direct object nouns. Singular Plural me me nos us te you (familiar) os you(familiar) lo you (formal),him,it los you, them la you (formal),her,it las you, them

  7. Lo Masculine Los La feminine Las

  8. The direct object noun is placed after the conjugated verb. Quiero la camisa azul. La quiero. I want the blue shirt I want it. The direct object pronoun is placed directly before the conjugated verb.

  9. When an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, the direct object pronoun can be placed before the conjugated verb or be attached to the infinitive. Quiero comprar zapatos negros. Y los quiero comprar hoy. I want to buy black shoes. or Y quiero comprarlos hoy. And I want to buy them today.

  10. Ejemplos Ella compr el casco. (She bought the helmet) Ella lo compr . (She bought it)

  11. Ejemplos Compr los guantes. (She bought the gloves) Los compr . (She bought them)

  12. Note: Remember that you must use the a personal before a direct object when it is a person. Ex: Invit a Carlos. (I invited Carlos)

  13. Ejemplos Invitaste a Juan? (Did you invite Juan) S , lo invit . ( yes, I invited him)
