  3. Please continue to implement social distancing and take action to ensure the safety of our Veterans and your staff. Until this guidance is lifted, please convert all possible routine visits to telehealth, to include referrals/authorizations already in place.   4. Please ensure health care professionals are conducting appropriate screening at the entrances of inpatient and long-term care facilities and that patients are tested for COVID-19 as appropriate. Please report cases to appropriate authorities. Please make sure all relevant personnel are trained to properly use and remove PPE. Plan for increased high acuity care and medical supply demand. Follow Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, CDC and state/local guidance regarding screening, testing, case reporting and PPE.

  5. Please notify your local VAMC or clinic regarding any Veteran cases or exposure to COVID-19. Communicate with your local VA Medical Center Notify your local VAMC of any cancellations/closure of services. In the event visits/services cannot be provided to the Veterans in your care due to COVID-19, please ensure next steps in care are jointly coordinated with the Veterans VA care team. Episodes of Care extended by 60 days- To complete care ordered by VA, all referrals associated SEOC with expiration dates of 3/1-7/31/2020 will now by extended to 9/30/2020. EXCEPTIONS TO THIS ARE- ER VISITS, INPT, ADULT DAY CARE, HHC, IN HOME RESPITE

  7. Whats New to VACCCN in 2020? ED Notification Process TIMELINESS CLARIFICATION FOR RESUBMISSION OF CERTAIN VA COMMUNITY CARE NETWORK (VA CCN) CLAIMS VA CCN EDUCATIONAL OVERVIEW THANK YOU FOR BEING A VA CCN PROVIDER

  8. VA Emergency Care Centralized Notification Center Beginning June 8, 2020 a new Emergency Care Centralized Notification Center was put into place nationwide. This is not a change from the existing requirement that the providers must notify the VA within 72 hours of a Veteran self presenting for emergent care. This is a new simplified mechanism by which community providers can report ER visits by the 2 options given, phone or email. TIMELINESS CLARIFICATION FOR RESUBMISSION OF CERTAIN VA COMMUNITY CARE NETWORK (VA CCN) CLAIMS Please note that effective July 22, 2020, providers can resubmit certain VA Community Care Network (VA CCN) claims to Optum that had been sent to VA or another third-party administrator (TPA) in error. The original claim submitted to the incorrect payor must have been submitted to the incorrect payor within 180 days from the date of service or date of discharge. A resubmitted claim must also be submitted to Optum for payment within 180 days from when it was first denied by VA or the other TPA and must include proof of initial timely filing within the required 180 days from the date of service. Proof should include an Explanation of Payment (EOP) from VA or a Provider Remittance Advice (PRA) from another third-party administrator. Submitting Claims You can submit claims to Optum with an approved referral showing CC Network 1, 2, or 3 electronically (EDI, Payer ID: VACCN) or through XPressClaim at: provider.vacommunitycare.com Medical/Behavioral Provider. As of March 18, 2020, Optum began administering Department of Veterans (VA) Community Care Network (CCN) urgent care benefit allowing eligible Veterans to seek urgent care services from an urgent care or retail clinic contracted for VA CCN through their UnitedHealthcare Agreement. Effective September 1, 2020, Optum will begin administering Department of Veterans (VA) Community Care Network (CCN) urgent care benefit in Regions 2 and 3.
