FOCUS OF THE PRESENTATION South African Gymnastics Federation (SAGF) was invited by the Portfolio Committee to brief the committee on; SA championships held in Pretoria in May 2023 Gymnastics Annual Report and an overview of the Federation s The Departments presentation will detail support that has been provided to SAGF in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years and highlight major events hosted by SAGF.
GYMNASTICS SA GOVERNANCE SAGF s financial year is 01 April to 31 March, annually. In the 2022/23 financial year the federation scheduled an AGM for 22 July 2023 on Zoom platform to present the Annual, Presidential and Audited Financial Statements.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT The financial support to Gymnastics SA for the 2021/2022 financial year was R5 000 000 for both administration and projects and programmes. The programmes supported were High performance of athletes, strategy session for Gymnastics and Capacity Building programmes. The financial support to Gymnastics SA for the 2022 / 2023 financial year was R 3 143 000 of which R1 620 000 was for administration and R1 523 000 was for projects and programmes. The programmes supported were High performance of athletes, Disability Gymnastics and Capacity Building programmes
MAJOR EVENTS HOSTED African Women s and Men s Artist Gymnastics Championship held at Heartfelt Arena on 24-27 May 2023 Down Syndrome World Championship at Matsport Centre on 22-25 September 2023.
Eminent Persons Group (EPG 2019/20) Board and Administrative Profile Gymnastics Board demographic in 2019 were reported as 58%, White, 17% Black African and 25% Coloured / Indian. The full-time staff compliment reflects a demographic of 40% White, 50% Black African and 10% Coloured/Indian demographic. National Teams Senior national male team that is Black African i.e. 55% Black African, 36% White and 9% Coloured / Indian group. The female representative underage pipeline comprises only one underage group, u14 (100% Coloured/Indian, Black African, 0% and White, 0%). Coach and referee structures Gymnastics Coach structure has shown little change demographically at 52% White, Black African, 41%, and 17% Coloured / Indian demographic as reported in 2019. The federation s Referee structure is less transformed than its coach structure reflecting a predominantly White, 72%, Black African 21%, and Coloured/Indian 7% demographic. Medical and Scientific Support Base Medical practitioners 83% White, 17% Coloured/Indian, 0% Black African; physiotherapists, 90% White, 10% Coloured/Indian, 0% Black African; bio kineticists 86% White, 14% Coloured/Indian,0% Coloured/ Indian; no sport psychologists; and no computer analysts reported.
