A. Superlative Degree to Positive Degree Rule-1. Superlative Degree the Positive Degree Structure : Sentence No other + Superlative degree +Verb+as/so+ Adjective Positive form+as+ first subject. Sup: Rahim is the tallest man in the village . Posi: No other man in the village is as tall as Rahim. Sup: The mutton chop was the cheapest dish on the menu. Posi: No other dish on the menu was as cheap as the mutton chop. Sup: Nur Mohammad is the noblest man in our village. Posi: No other man in our village is as noble as Nur Mohammad.
Rule-2. Superlative Degree one of the Positive Degree S: Sentence very few + Superlative Degree + Verb(plural)+ as/so+ Adjective positive form+ as+ first subject. Sup: He is one of the oldest man in the village Posi: Very few men in the village are as old as he. Sup: America is one of the most powerful countries in the world. Posi: Very few countries in the world are as powerful as America. Sup: Nazrul is one of the greatest poets of Bangladesh. Posi: Very few poets of Bangladesh are as great as Nazrul.
Sup: The cow is the most useful of all animals. Posi: No other animal is as useful as the cow. Sup: The Padma is the largest of all rivers in our country. Posi: No other river in our country is as large as the Padma,
B. Comparative Degree to Positive Degree Rule-1 Than Comparative Degree Sentence Affirmative - S: Last Subject+verb+ not+ as+ Adjective Positive form+first subject. Com: Rahim is better than karim. Posi: Karim is not as good as Rahim. Com: A bird flies faster than a plane. Posi: A plane does not fly as fast as a bird. Com: You are older than I . Posi: I am not as old as you.
Rule-2. Than Comparative Degree Sentence Negative - S: First subject + verb+ as+ Adjective Positive form+as + last subject. Com: Karim is not more active than Rahim. Posi: Karim is as active as Rahim. Com: Shamim is not more intelligent than Shimu. Posi: Shamim is as intelligent as Shimu.
Rule-3. than any other/than all other Comparative Degree Positive Degree S: No other+ than any other/than all other + verb+ as/so+ adjective positive form+as+ first subject. Com: Rahim is better than any boy in our school. Posi: No other boy in our school is as good as Rahim. Com: Dhaka is bigger than any other city in Bangladesh. Posi: No other city in Bangladesh is as big as Dhaka.
Rule-4. Than few other/Than most other Comparative Degree Positive Degree S: very few+ than few other/than most other +Plural verb+ as+ Adjective positive form+as+ first subject. Com: He is greater than most other men in the village. Posi: Very few men in the village are as great as he. Com: Gold is more precious than most other metals in the world . Posi: Very few metals in the world are as precious as gold. Com: Foyot s is more expensive than most other restaurants. Posi: Very few restaurants are as expensive as Foyot s.
C. Comparative Degree to Superlative Degree Rule-1. Than any other/ than all other comparative Degree Superlative Degree S: Sub+verb+ the+adjective comparative form+ of all+ than any other/than all other Com: Rahim is better than any boy in our school. Sup: Rahim is the best boy in our school. Or: Rahim is the best of all boys in our school. Com:Dhaka is bigger than any other city in Bangladesh. Sup: Dhaka is the biggest city in Bangladesh. Or: Dhaka is the biggest of all cities in Bangladesh.

Than most other/than few other Comparative superlative S: Subject +verb+ one of the +adjective superlative form+ than most other /than few other Com: Rahim is better than most boy in our school. Sup: Rahim is one of the best boys in our school. Com: Dhaka is bigger than most other cities in Bangladesh. Sup: Dhaka is one of the biggest cities in Bangladesh. Com: Sylhet is more populous than most other cities in Bangladesh. Sup: Sylhet is one of the most populous cities in Bangladesh.
D. Superlative Degree to Comparative degree Rule-1. the Superlative Degree Comparative degree S: Sub+verb+adjective comparative form + than any other/ than all other+ Sup: Chattogram is the biggest sea port in Bangladesh. Com: Chattogram is bigger than any other sea port in Bangladesh. Sup: Walking is the best exercise. Com: Walking is better than any other exercise.
Rule-2. One of the Comparative degree S: Sub+verd+adjective comparative form+ than most other+ sentence Sup: Parag is one of the tallest boys in the class. Com: Parag is taller than most other boys in the class. Sup: Shirin is one of the best girls in the class. Com: Shirin is better than most other girls in the class. Sup: Rafique is the most active of all workers. Com: Rafique is more active than all other workers. ( Note: of all/of any than all other )
E. Positive Degree to Superlative Degree Rule-1.No other Positive Degree Superlative Degree S: Last Subject+verb+the+ adjective superlative form+ no other Posi: No other man is as happy as a successful man. Sup: A successful man is the happiest man. Posi: No other person is as hated as a corrupted man. Sup: A corrupted man is the most hated person. Posi: No other mosque in Bangladesh is as large as Baitul Mokarrram. Sup: Baitul Mokarram is the largest mosque in Bangladesh.
Rule-2. Few,a few,very few Positive degree Superlative Degree S: Last Subject+verb+one of the+ adjective superlative form+ few,a few,very few Posi: Very few women are as lazy as she. Sup: She is one of the laziest women. Posi:Very few animals are as ferocious as Tiger. Sup: Tiger is one of the most ferocious animals. Posi: Very few animals in the world are as ferocious as hyena. Sup: Hyena is one of the most ferocious animals in the world.
Rule-1. No other Positive Degree Comparative Degree S: Last Sub+verb+adjective comparative form+than any other+ no other Posi: No other river in Bangladesh is as big as Padma. Com: Padma is bigger than any other river in Bangladesh. Posi: No other boy in the class is as good as Parag Com: Parag is bitter than any other boy in the class.
