INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADJUSTING AND OPERATING (Setting Up In$tructlone ere on page 6) LUBRICATION Use the pressure lubricating gun furnished with the tractor and keep all bearings and working parts well lubricated. Lubrication fittings are provided in the following places: One straight fitting. in gauge wheel box. Two straight fittings in coulter hubs Lubricate daily. .Lubricate daily. GENERAL IMPORTANT! the bottoms to the beams are absolutely tight. Before starting the plow, be sure the bolts which secure Bolts and set screws must be kept perfectly tight and all cotters spread to keep them from falling out. REJIOVE THE VARNISH BEFORE STARTING PLOW The plow bottom and rolling coulter are varnished before leaving the factory to prevent rust. Good work cannot be accomplished until the var- nish is removed. VARNISH REMOVER: mover which can be obtained from almost any store handling a line of paints. For this purpose, use a regular prepared varnish re- CONCENTRATEO LYE: lye and mix it with water, making liquid strong enough to remove the var- nish. One small can of ordinary lye to one quart of water will be suffi- cient to remove the varnish from one plow bottom. The lye may be applied by attaching cloth or waste on the end of a stick. Another method is to procure ordinary concentrated Whichever method is followed, be sure that all varnish is removed before putting the plow into the ground. PLOWING If the plow is slow in going into the ground when the ground is hard, lower the hitch bail by means of the adjusting lever until the plow is in the ground, then replace the lever in the regular working position. SCOURING If scouring is difficult, have patience until the bottom receives a land polish which may require a few rounds or possibly a few days. When doing this, run the plow shallow and fast and always set the coulter far over the landside edge of the plow and not too deep; it is often necessary to remove them entirely until the plow begins to scour.
