  2. WOLFPACK DRILL Purpose of the drill is to focus on short bursts of edge work and full ice puck skills No more than 5 skaters per line width ways. 1. Width of the ice: using two tires the skater goes out to the center tire and back to the near, then to the far and back to the center, then past the far to get in line for the next drill. 1. Forward to Backward Transition and vice versa; insert puck and repeat 2. Exaggerated Outside Edge turns 3. Exaggerated Inside Edge Turns 4. Fall at first tire, up by second and back; insert puck and repeat 5. Side step crossovers as wide as possible; Side step crossovers as fast as possible 6. Three tight turns and change sides when coming back (no alternating tires on this one) 7. Sprint to far tire, backwards to near tire race to far tire with next in line Length of the ice: using all tires: exaggerated stick deeks; tight turns with pucks; weave with pucks; backwards no pucks; sprint to third tire, one legged weave through remainder of tires 2.

O s Coach starts new puck Team that gains position of loose puck is on offense Any transition throughout drill, X or O must carry puck below goal line to establish offensive play Neutral Zone Drill 5 on 5, X s Vs. O s Coach starts new puck Team X or O must have 1 D to D pass and 1 regroup pass, before making a pass to coach CX or CO. Then full line change for one team

WISCONSIN DRILL F1 F2 D1 D2 F1 F2 F4 F3 Pucks are scattered below the goal line, behind net Whistle D1, F1 and F2 start drill D1 picks up a puck, passes to F1 for break in shot D1 stops , reverses, picks up puck 2 and passes to F2 for break shot D1 stops, reverses, picks up puck3, passes to F1, F1 passes to D2 and crashes to the net, D2 takes a shot on goal with traffic. D1 stops, reverses, picks up puck 4, passes to F2, F2 passes to D2 and crashes to the net, D2 takes a shot on goal with traffic. Double whistle starts D2 with F3 and F4, flow drill.

  7. Neutral Zone Move F3 F2 D3 D1 F3 D2 D4 F1 1. 2. 3. F1, F2 AND F3, work multiple regroups with D1, D2, D3 and D4 Play needs to go both ways F1, F2 and F3 must communicate and balance the space for the drill FOCUS: Lateral movement, fill lanes, 1 lane/1player, proper ice balance.

  10. Basic Zone Entry Phase II Practice Plan #3 LW D1 D3 C D4 D2 RW 1. 2. 3. 4. offensive zone Drill starts on top of the circle line. 5 players attack D3/D4, work zone entry. Whistle stops drill. New 5 on tops of circles (same direction), attack D1/D2 (D1/D2 switch into defensive roles) D1, D2, LW, RW and C take off against D3 and D4 Forwards will practice the different variations of entering the Middle drive, wide drive, wide entry w/ delay, wide entry w/ low delay, w/ low cycle, w/ high cycle, escape and crash, etc.

O s Teams can NOT shoot on goal unless they have a teammate in the crease area (imaginary box) 3 on 3 REVERSE 3 on 3 cross ice, X s Vs. O s Teams must make three reverse passes before they can attack the goal This drill can be run 5 on 5, or any number

BASIC PENALTY KILL BOX The Box Formation XX XX RD RD LD LD X X X X F2 F2 F1 F1 X X X X On the penalty kill, RD, LD, F1 and F2 will work to remain in a BOX formation Forcing the play to the perimeter and NOT allowing the puck to penetrate When the play is shifted to the opposite side of the rink, players will rotate, But remain in the BOX Example: RD is covering the puck (XX), if XX turns his/her back, bobbles the puck, slips, falls down, etc. RD must jump the situation instantly Any chance given, we MUST clear the zone
