  2. Introduction The term 'director' is defined in the Corporations Act 2001 as: 'A director is someone that is responsible for directing (and, in smaller companies, managing) the affairs of a company. A director is anyone who acts in this capacity - even if they have not been formally appointed

  3. Director identification number Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique identification number given to an existing or a potential Director of any company which is incorporated. DIN came into existence after the insertion of the section 266A & 266B of the Companies Act, 1956 (as amended vide Act No 23 of 2006).

  7. DISQUALIFICATION OF DIRECTORS Section 164(2)(a) of the Act deals with the disqualification of directors. It states that when a company has not filed financial statements or annual returns, for any three consecutive years, it will result in the disqualification of its directors for a period of five years.
