  1. FOLDING FLOWERS

  2. This is an image of an unfolded piece of paper. I wonder if you can visualise what shape it will make if folded along the creases? Why not have a go at drawing your visualisation

  3. Compare your drawing to this one. Now have a go at making one from an A4 sheet of paper.

  4. Task 1 Now make several of the same shape from A4, A5 and A6 pieces of paper in two colours.

  5. Challenge 1 Take a large shape and a small shape made from one colour, and a medium shape made from the second colour. Make a pattern from your shapes, by laying them on top of each other, that fits both of these rules: - - You must be able to see at least part of each shape; All three shapes must fit inside the perimeter (outline) of the largest shape.

  6. My challenge 1 looked like this:

  7. Challenge 2 Use a new large shape, medium shape and small shape to recreate the same pattern but using the opposite colours from challenge 1. Place the two patterns next to each other. Do they look like the petals of a flower? Can you predict how many more you ll need? Continue to fold and add your petals until you ve made a flower. We d love to see photos of your finished flowers.

  8. My challenge 2 looked like this:

  9. Here are some finished examples:
